Michael Hope

Narrator

Michael Hope is a native of Toronto, a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia, and has held the full-time position of second bassoonist in the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra since 1982.

As a singer and narrator, he has performed with most of Canada’s major symphony orchestras.  Whether in a concert hall, hospice, church, a backyard, or in a care home, Michael brings inspiration to his devoted audiences.

In addition to making music, he is obsessed with NHL hockey. He also enjoys cooking, repairing his 23 year-old Toyota Camry and watching vintage episodes of Dallas on TV with his Mom!

In the spirit of reconciliation, Red Deer Symphony Orchestra acknowledges the privilege of planning, practicing and performing on Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples. We also serve communities across Central Alberta, which covers Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory.
